Cons of Stacked Washer Dryer

While stacked units excel in space-saving, they do come with a trade-off: limited capacity. The vertical design means that the dryer drum is often smaller than that of standalone dryers. This may require more frequent loads for larger households, potentially impacting efficiency.

Stackable units excel in maximizing space efficiency and are ideal for settings with limited square footage. However, if you need to comply with ADA requirements or desire more flexibility in equipment maintenance and layout, side-by-side units may be the better choice.

The dryer should always be stacked on top of the washer, since dryers tend to be lighter than washing machines especially when filled with water.

Full size stacked washers and dryers are typically 77 to 80 inches tall, 27 inches wide, and 32-34 inches deep. When measuring, you will want to ensure the doors can fully open, you have about 1 to 5 inches of space behind the machines for hoses and ventilation and that you can comfortably reach the top controls.
